Professional Fun

Day three week one at SPACE started off with a bunch of excited girls. The digital photography class, unusually filled with only females as students, was in for a treat. Instead of the usual picture snapping while roaming around the church, we were going to work with a professional black backdrop and costume and prop to photograph. We even got to use our teacher's camera! With a heavy camera in hand girls shot pictures of everthing from dark purple cloaks to rubber spiders. "I had fun today, I felt like a professional." Emma Rudman commented. The experience even went onto shooting a man's headshot! "The camera was way heavier than mine." Sophia Kelly laughed. The day wasn't over yet! Arie Quintanilla discussed his comicbook illustration class. "I liked everything. It was so fun. You get to write and read comics all the time, and fiding out what the special effects are is great. I had a blast." Sara Muzquiz says that "It's fun to learn about modern art." For the younger kids there is a class where you learn "The modern kind of artwork," Jesse Newman says. "The most fun thing about the class is the clay. I like my teacher, Rachel. She's nice." At the end of the day we worked on making masks out of clay. From cats to mardi gras to evil villans, the kids imagined many creative ways to change a face through clay, making it a great end of the day.
