The Big Draw
At SPACE camp, we did a lot of fun art projects. It was a lot of fun, doing projects that you wouldn't normally do at school. We made robots out of cloth, fabric, paper and foil. It was a lot of fun. We also made City Scapes out of different material. Our teacher, Jone, taught us a lot about art, and about one of her favorite artists, Richard Tuttle. She always had and thought of good projects, and always encouraged us to participate in all the activities.
Not only did we do art, but we also went to a music store and learned about recording songs, got ice cream {YUM!!}, and got to dress up and have our pictures taken by a professional photographer and use her camera to take pictures. On the last day, the little kids preformed a skit for the whole camp, called "A Carrot Goes To Hollywood."
SPACE CAMP WAS REALLY FUN, AND I WAS SAD TO LEAVE, BUT THEN AGAIN, THERE'S ALWAYS NEXT YEAR!!!=D

Week 3 of SPACE camp
In week 3 of SPACE camp everyone had loads of fun! We had to partner up and pick scenes from our favorite movies or plays, then we had to act them out! On Monday we chose our scenes. Then on Tuesday and Wednesday Hope, our teacher, helped us improve our scenes. On Thursday Kevin Foxe came in to help film our scenes. On Friday we finished our scenes and edited them on iMovie. We all had a great time acting out our scenes!!
Last Day of SPACE camp
this week at camp everyone picked partners and picked a famous scene. my partner, Amanda, and i chose the scene "popular" from wicked. hope, our teacher, helped us on Mon., Tues., and wed. improve our scenes. then on Friday a professional film-maker came on Thurs. and videotaped our scenes. then today, Friday, we edited them with him. I'm very pleased at the outcome of the video, and my experience. i had a great time, and i learned a lot about film-making and acting.
occasionally a special guest would come. one day a photographer came and took our pictures. another day a professional artist came and taught us how to do contour drawings. and on Thursday we walked to the music center and learned a little bit about recording music. then we walked to rite aid and got ice cream!!!
all in all, it was a blast! i had a great time, met new friends, learned a lot, and i will DEFINITELY be coming back next summer!!:)

Professional Fun
Day three week one at SPACE started off with a bunch of excited girls. The digital photography class, unusually filled with only females as students, was in for a treat. Instead of the usual picture snapping while roaming around the church, we were going to work with a professional black backdrop and costume and prop to photograph. We even got to use our teacher's camera! With a heavy camera in hand girls shot pictures of everthing from dark purple cloaks to rubber spiders. "I had fun today, I felt like a professional." Emma Rudman commented. The experience even went onto shooting a man's headshot! "The camera was way heavier than mine." Sophia Kelly laughed. The day wasn't over yet! Arie Quintanilla discussed his comicbook illustration class. "I liked everything. It was so fun. You get to write and read comics all the time, and fiding out what the special effects are is great. I had a blast." Sara Muzquiz says that "It's fun to learn about modern art." For the younger kids there is a class where you learn "The modern kind of artwork," Jesse Newman says. "The most fun thing about the class is the clay. I like my teacher, Rachel. She's nice." At the end of the day we worked on making masks out of clay. From cats to mardi gras to evil villans, the kids imagined many creative ways to change a face through clay, making it a great end of the day.

Our Experiences at SPACE Workshops
Digital Cafe:
Before we could start learning iMovie we first had to come up with a short film. After making scripts, casting characters, and finding locations we were ready to start filming. Using borrowed video equipment we finished shooting our group movies. We then moved on to downloading it to iMovie. Using the computers provided we edited and had hands-on experience in creating our own short film. Once our video was complete we added some transitions and special effects to add that little touch. This SPACE program helps kids from all ages learn to use equipment as a team and as an individual.
